4 killed as Benapole Express train set on fire in Gopibagh

Four passengers were killed and four others suffered burn injuries as the miscreants set the Benapole Express train on fire at Gopibagh area of Sayedabad in Dhaka on Friday night.

The deceased could not be identified as the bodies were beyond recognition. The bodies were kept at the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). 

The injured are Md Masud Rana, 31, Koushik, Asif Mohammad Khan and Nafis Alam, 29. They were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS).

Md Setafur Rahman, Sub Inspector of Dhaka Railway Police Station, said a woman and a child are among the deceased. 

He said the relatives of two women named Natasha Jasmin (25) and Elina Yasmin (30) came to claim their bodies, but they didn’t identify the victims. The bodies will be identified through DNA test. 

However, Bangladesh Railway authorities formed a seven-member committee to probe the incident. The committee was asked to submit a report in three days.
