Teen burnt in sky lantern fire on 31st night dies

A teenage boy, who suffered burn injuries in a fire caused by sky lanterns in Kamrangichar of Dhaka on the 31st night or New Year's Eve, has died.

The deceased was identified as Siam, 16.

He breathed his last on Monday midnight while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital.

Siam's father Swapan Bepari said he and and his two uncles received burn injuries while flying sky lanterns to celebrate New Year's Eve.

SHNIBPS resident surgeon Dr Md Tarikul Islam had said around 90 percent of Siam's body was burnt.
