Army CGS, PSO call on President

Newly appointed Army Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lieutenant General Waker-Uz-Zaman and Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division (AFD) Lt Gen Mizanur Rahman Shamim on Monday paid a courtesy call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban, reports BSS.

During the meeting, the President was apprised of various activities of the Bangladesh Army, said President's Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin.

The new CGS and the PSO sought the directives and guidelines from the President, Supreme Commander of the AFD, to discharge their duties.

Welcoming the new CGS and PSO, the President hoped that their talent, labour and skills would contribute positively to the development of the armed forces.

In addition to protecting the country's independence and sovereignty, the cooperation of the army in civil administration's activities will increase for the welfare of the country and its people, the head of state hoped.

President's Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam and Secretary (attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were present.
