BSF returns bodies of 2 Bangladeshis after 15 days of killing

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) returned the bodies of two Bangladeshi youths on Saturday afternoon around 16 days after killing them along Darshana border in Chuadanga.

Local union parishad member Abdur Rahman said several people, including Sazedur Rahman alias Saidul and Khaza Mainuddin, residents of Chhoyghoria village in Damurhuda upazila, went to India to bring cows.

At night, a patrol team of Gobindapur BSF camp in Nadia district of West Bengal opened fire on them, leaving Saidul and Mainuddin dead on the spot and later, they took the bodies to Krishnanagar Police Station, he said.

The bodies were brought to Bangladesh today after 16 days following communication between the two countries through letters, Abdur Rahman added.

Md Haider, assistant director of Chuadanga Border Guard Bangladesh-6 battalion, and Rajesh Narayan, company commander of BSF, were present during the handing over of the bodies.

Darshana Police Station officer in-charge Biplob Kumar Saha said Krishnagar Police Station OC Bipen Sarker handed over the bodies and they received these.

However, the bodies were handed over to the respective families this evening, he said.
