Five-pair local trains closed to avoid sabotage

Five pairs of local trains have been declared closed from December 15 to avoid subversive acts following recent arson attacks on trains in different places of the country.

The trains are of Dhaka-Narayanganj, Mymensingh-Bhuyapur, Jamalpur-Sarishabari, Ishwardi-Rahanpur routes, and Uttara Express. 

Shafiqur Rahman, divisional manager (Dhaka) of Bangladesh Railway, said this to the reporters at Kamalapur Railway Station on Friday afternoon.

He said around 2,700 Ansar members were deployed across the country to maintain security in rail communication.
