2 killed as private car hits traffic island in Gazipur

Two people were killed when a private car hit a traffic island on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Palli Bidyut area in Kaliakair of Gazipur early Sunday. 

The deceased were identified as Abu Taher, 45 and Ibrahim, 36. 

Local source said a Dhaka-bound private car lost control when it reached the area and hit the traffic island around 4am. At that time, two passengers of the car were killed. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered them.  

Md Shahadat Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Nawzor Highway Police Station, said the accident took place due to dense fog. The bodies were recovered and brought to the police station.
