1 killed as train hits police van in Jamalpur

One policeman was killed and another injured when a train crashed into a police van at Shekhervita rail crossing in Jamalpur early Sunday. 

The deceased Ahsanul Haque, 48, was a constable of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station. 

The injured were taken to the hospital. 

Mahbubur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Railway Police Station, said the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound commuter train hit the police van at Shekhervita rail crossing area, leaving one police member dead on the spot and three others injured. 

Muhammad Mohobbat Kabir, Officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station, said the body was sent to the hospital. A legal process is underway in this regard.
