159 BGB platoons deployed across the country

A total of 159 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country amid the 24-hour countrywide blockade called by the BNP and other opposition parties.

Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of the BGB, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Wednesday morning. 

He said a total of 159 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country to maintain the law and order situation. Among them, 21 platoons have been deployed in Dhaka and its adjoining areas.

It is mentionable that, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the blockade at a virtual press conference on Monday afternoon demanding polls under a non-party interim government. 

The party will also observe 12-hour hartal across the country on Thursday.
