EC invites 34 countries to observe polls

The Election Commission has invited 34 countries and 4 organizations to observe the upcoming parliamentary polls.   

The EC will bear expenses of their stay in Bangladesh.

EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath on Wednesday said they invited 34 countries and 4 organisations to observe the elections.

The countries are India, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Australia, Canada, France, Georgia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Korea, Egypt, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Senegal, Thailand, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Tunisia, Brunei, United Arab Emirate, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arab, China, Japan and Singapore.  

The organisations are South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) and Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA).
