Technocrat ministers, state minister submit resignation letters

The technocrat ministers and state ministers (non-parliament members) of the Cabinet have submitted resignation letters after the announcement of the election schedule.

They - Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar, and State Minister for Planning Dr Shamsul Alam - submitted their resignation letter to the Cabinet Division on Sunday, sources concerned said.

The advisors to the Prime Minister also submitted their resignation letters, sources in the Cabinet Division said.

Earlier on November 15, the Election Commission (EC) announced that the 12th general elections will be held on January 7.

In a Cabinet meeting on November 6, 2018, to form an election-time government, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the then technocrat ministers to step down, and accordingly, they resigned.
