Bus set on fire at Jigatala, one caught red-handed
Miscreants torched a passenger bus in front of the gate of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Jigatala in Dhaka on Wednesday night on the first day of a fresh 48-hour nationwide blockade enforced by BNP, and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
The incident took place around 9:17 pm, Rakibul Hasan, duty officer at the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defence, told Jago News.
Later, two units of the firefighters went to the spot and were trying to douse the blaze, he said.
Witnesses said a man was, however, caught red-handed from the spot.
Earlier, miscreants torched a minibus in front of a police outpost at Kakoli around 8:08 pm and a bus of 'Dishari Paribahan' at Tatibazar intersection around 7:33 pm in the capital.
BNP, and Jamaat observed a dawn-to-dusk hartal across the country on October 29 after the attacks and clashes around the party's grand rally in the capital on October 28.
After the hartal, BNP, and Jamaat observed blockade programs of road, rail, and waterways in two phases - three days in the first phase and two days in the second phase.
After the two phases, another 48-hour blockade was announced for Wednesday and Thursday that is underway.
