228 BGB platoons deployed across the country
A total of 228 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country including Dhaka on the second day of the 48-hour countrywide blockade called by the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.
Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of the BGB, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Monday morning.
He said a total of 228 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country to maintain the law and order situation.
Earlier on Sunday, twenty-seven platoons of BGB were deployed in Dhaka and adjoining districts.
After the three-day countrywide blockade, another road, rail and waterways blockade for 48 hours called by BNP, Jamaat and like-minded opposition parties began across the country on Sunday morning.
The blockade started at 6am on the day and will end at 6am on Tuesday.
At least 19 vehicles were set on fire in different parts of the country including Dhaka on the first day of the blockade. Three members of police were also injured after the miscreants hurled two cocktails at their patrol car in Dhaka’s Uttara.
