Case filed over Bhairab deadly train accident

A case has been filed over the collision between a passenger, and a container train in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj that left 17 people dead and injured many others.

The case was filed against Zahangir Alam, locomaster of the container train, assistant locomaster Atiqur Rahman and guard Md Alamgir and those involved in train operations.

Billal Hossain, brother of Nazrul Islam who died in the incident, lodged the case with Bhairab Police Station in this connection on Wednesday morning.

Victim Nazrul was the son of Darshan Mia, a resident of Sarrabad village in Belabo upazila of Narsingdi. He along with his family lived in Amlapara area of Bhairab municipality.

The case statement said the deadly accident took place due to the negligence of those involved in the train operation.

Plaintiff Billal said such negligence rises as those accused in any incident are not punished. He filed the case to bring the accused to justice.

Bhairab Railway Police Station officer in-charge Alim Hossain Shikder confirmed the case filing.

Earlier on Monday, a passenger train of 'Egarosindhur Godhuli' and a container train collided head-on in Jagannathpur area near Bhairab Railway Station, leaving 17 people dead and more than 100 others injured.
