Two killed as pickup van plunges into ditch

Two people were killed and seven others injured as a pickup van plunged into a roadside ditch in Jaintiapur upazila of Sylhet on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Zahangir Hossain, 30, son of Abdur Rahim, a resident of Dakshin Kanarchar village under Itapara Police Station in Keraniganj upazila, and Mohaimin, 27, son of Abdul Barek of Tolatuli area in Hemayetpur of Savar in Dhaka.

The incident took place in Baithakhali area on the Sylhet-Tamabil Highway around 9:30 am, Jaintiapur Model Police Station officer in-charge Md Tajul Islam told Jago News.

Quoting injured, he said some people came to Sylhet from Dhaka on a pickup van on Monday night and the vehicle fell into a roadside ditch this morning after its driver lost control over steering, leaving two dead and seven others injured.
