UP member held with hemp in Barishal

Police arrested a local union parishad member along with hemp in Sadar upazila of Barishal on Saturday evening.

Arrested Md Shah Alam Sheikh, 55, is 6 no. ward member under Charbaria union and member of the convener committee of Kotwali Thana BNP.

On information that hemp was being sold in Boubazar area under 5 no. ward, police conducted a drive there and arrested Shah Alam along with around 500 grams of hemp, said Kaunia Police Station sub-inspector Naim Ahmed.

The police station officer in-charge Md Asaduzzaman said a case was filed against the UP member under the Narcotics Control Act.
