Patuakhali-1 MP Shahjahan Mia passes away

Md Shahjahan Mia, an Awami League lawmaker from Patuakhali-1 constituency and former State Minister for Religious Affairs, has passed away. He was 83.

He breathed his last around 6am on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

His son Patuakhali Sadar Upazila Chairman advocate Tariquzzaman Moni confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

Shahjahan was born on January 17, 1940. He served as Patuakhali district unit AL president from 1991 to 2019. 

He was elected lawmaker three times in 1996, 2008 and 2018 with the boat symbol.
