President undergoes successful open-heart surgery

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has undergone a successful open-heart surgery at the National University Hospital in Singapore.

His Press Secretary Joynal Abedin on Thursday said the surgery was performed under the supervision of eminent cardiac surgeon Prof. Dr. Kofidis Theodoros on Wednesday morning.

Quoting the doctors of the hospital, he said the President has regained consciousness. He is currently under the observation of doctors at the post-operative unit of the hospital. 

The Head of State was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday morning after the necessary check-up.

The President sought blessings from the countrymen for his speedy recovery.

On October 16, the President went to Singapore for treatment.
