Man gets death for killing wife for dowry

A court in Shariatpur has sentenced a man to death for killing his wife for dowry around two years ago.

Condemned convict Raza Mia, 32, is a resident of Bokaul Kandi area under Kachikata union in Bhedarganj upazila.

The district Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Md Sohel Ahmed delivered the verdict on Tuesday.

The case statement and court sources said Raza Mia murdered his wife Kanchan Mala on June 6, 2021, as she refused to give him Tk 2 lakh dowry from her father's home.

Later, her brother Monir Hossain filed a case with Shakhipur Police Station in this connection.

The court's public prosecutor (PP) Firoz Ahmed told Jago News Kanchan Mala died after her husband Raza hit her head with bamboo for dowry.
