Brahmanbaria-2 MP Abdus Satter passes away
Former state minister and lawmaker from Brahmanbaria-2 constituency Abdus Satter Bhuiyan died in a hospital in Dhaka early Saturday. He aged around 80.
He breathed his last around 3 am while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital, his son Mainul Hasan Tushar confirmed to Jago News.
Tushar said his father had long been suffering from kidney disease and he was admitted to the hospital a week ago following his condition worsened.
Abdus Satter was born on January 16 of 1939 in Parmanandapur village under Aruail union in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria.
He was engaged in the law profession in the district court and performed duties as district president of BNP for a long.
He was elected parliament member of then Comilla-1 constituency in 1979 as an independent candidate.
Subsequently, he contested in Brahmanbaria-2 seat in the 1991, and 1996 national elections as a BNP candidate and won the polls.
He served as the state minister for Law, Fisheries and Land Ministry under the BNP-led four-party government after the 2001 election.
Abdus Satter participated in the 2018 election with 'paddy sheaf' and won the elections.
In 2023, BNP expelled him from the party and later, he took part in by-elections to Brahmanbaria-2 seat as an independent candidate and secured victory.
