BCL factional clash kills 1 in Comilla University
A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League of Comilla University (CU) unit was killed in a clash between two factions of it’s on the campus.
The incident took place over enlightening candles at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the first hour of Monday at Bangabandhu Hall of the university.
The deceased is Khaled Saifullah, Organizing Secretary of BCL of Poet Nazrul Hall and the student of 7th batch of the marketing department.
According to source, supporters of President of CU’s unit Alif and another BCL leader Elias Hosen Sabuj locked into a clash, over enlightening candles marking the month of morning, leaving five injured.
Hearing the news, CU administration and police rushed to the spot and sent injured students to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
Of them, Saifullah of Elias Hosen group was declared as dead at the hospital. CU Register Mujibur Rahman confirmed the matter to Jagonews24.com.
After the incident, the tense situation was prevailing in CU. Additional police were deployed on the campus to control untoward situation.
