Four people, including three members of a family, died from electrocution amid heavy rain in Dhaka's Mirpur area on Thursday night.

The deceased were Md Mizan, 30, his wife Mukta Begum, 25, and their daughter Lima, 7, and Mohammad Anik, 20. They all were residents of Jhilpar slum.

The incident took place on the road opposite to Jhilpar slum adjacent to Dhaka Commerce College, Mirpur around 9:30 pm.

Mirpur Police Station officer in-charge Mohammad Mosfin confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said youth Anik met his tragic end when he tried to save the family.

The couple's six-month-old baby boy, who received serious injuries in the incident, was first admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital and later, shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the OC added.

Dhaka experienced heavy rain with thundershowers since yesterday evening.

Due to the rain, the main roads, and streets of the capital were inundated, causing waterlogging and disruption of vehicular movements in most places of the city.
