Sadiq Abdullah, 4 others sued in Barishal

A case has been filed with a court in Barishal against the city corporation Mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah and four others.

The four other accused are Barishal City Corporation's chief executive officer, its contractual basis recruitment committee's member secretary, budget cum accounting officer and Obaidur Rahman working in its networking engineering post.

Sheikh Md Shoaib Kabir, who worked in the networking engineering post, lodged the case with Barishal Senior Assistant Judge Court.

Judge Md Hasibul Hasan on Tuesday took the case into cognizance and kept it for order, said the court's bench assistant Md Bayezid.

Shoaib Kabir's lawyer Azad Rahman told Jago News that Barishal City Corporation published a circular on November 19, 2020, to recruit manpower in the networking engineering post on a contractual basis.

Shoaib Kabir secured first place in written and verbal tests taken for the post and was appointed for three years on May 9, 2021.

He was regularly given his salary and allowance till January 4, 2023, and since then, it has been stopped for unknown reasons.

The plaintiff alleged that another person was appointed in the same post without laying off him breaching the government rules.

Going to the city corporation on Sunday (September 17), he sought his salary and allowance and requested to cancel the illegal recruitment.

But his request was rejected and that's why he filed the lawsuit.
