Case filed against Dr Yunus in Rangpur

A case has been filed against Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus and five others on allegations of not giving fair wages and breaching Labor Law.

Md Farukul Islam, senior farm manager (retired) of Grameen Krishi Foundation, filed the case in Labour Court, Rangpur on Tuesday afternoon, his lawyer Shamim Al Mamun confirmed.

Shamim said the lawsuit was lodged against Dr Yunus and others on allegations of not paying Tk 9,75,125 to Farukul on the account of his wages, gratuity and earned leave and breaching the Labour Law.

Without paying the arrears, Dr Yunus and the officials of Grameen Krishi Foundation forced the plaintiff to retire, the lawyer added.
