23 get life term imprisonment for Narail double murder

A Narail court on Sunday convicted 23 people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing two youths in 1995.

According to the prosecution, two youths- Shaheen and Lichu were killed by miscreants at Gazirhat area in Kalia upazila of Narail on June 14, 1995 due to previous enmity.

A case was filed against 29 people in this connection.

After examining records and witnesses, Narail Additional District and Session Judge Abul Bashar Munshi pronounced the verdict against 23.

However, nineteen of the accused present during the trial, four were tried in absentia and six of the accused died during the trial.
