378 killed in 403 road accidents in August: RSF
As many as 378 people were killed and 794 others injured in 403 road accidents across the country in August this year, according to a latest report.
Among the dead, 44 were women and 51 children.
The report by Road Safety Foundation (RSF), released on Saturday, said that 146 people were killed in 142 motorcycle accidents across the country - 38.62% of the total deaths.
At least 93 pedestrians were killed in road accidents, which is 24.60 percent of the total deaths. Some 57 drivers and their assistants were killed, which is 15.07 percent of the total deaths.
Seventeen people were killed and nine others injured in eleven waterways accidents while at least 37 people were killed and 19 others injured in 28 railway accidents during the same period.
RSF prepared the report based on nine national dailies, seven online news portals and electronic media information.
