Record 21 dengue patients die; 2352 hospitalized in 24 hrs

Twenty one dengue patients died in the last 24 hours, which is the highest number of deaths in a day this year.

With the latest death, a total of 618 people died of dengue to date this year, a Directorate General of Health Services press release said on Saturday.

In the last 24 hours, 2,352 people were hospitalized with the mosquito-borne disease.

Currently, 8,632 people diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease are taking treatment at different government and private hospitals in and outside the capital of Dhaka.

Of them, 3,903 are being treated at the facilities in the capital while 4,729 are in other divisions.

As many as 1,27,694 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country since January 1 this year.

Some 1,18,444 out of the hospitalized patients, however, recovered during the period.
