12 injured in gas cylinder blast in Cox's Bazar
Twelve people sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in a fishing trawler in Cox's Bazar town on Friday morning.
Among the injured, 10 have been identified as Ayub, 31, Dil Mohammad, 30, Rafique, 25, Monir, 26, Shafiqul, 26, Arman, 20, Rahim, 37, Rahimullah, 30, Shahid, 35, and Usman, 19 who live in Kutubdiapara and Samitipara under No. 1 ward of the district town.
Cox's Bazar district fishing boat owners association's organizing secretary Mostaq Ahmed said the incident took in a fishing trawler in the area adjacent to 6 No. Jetty of the town around 8 am but he could not say anything about the causes of the explosion.
After the incident, the injured were taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
The hospital resident medical officer (RMO) Dr Ashiqur Rahman said 12 people were brought here with burn injuries and after primary treatment, 10 of them were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment as their body's around 70 percent were burnt.
Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Mohammed Rafiqul Islam said police went to the spot and were looking into the incident.
