Four including wife get death in expatriate murder
A court in Cumilla has sentenced four people, including a woman, to death for the murder of her expatriate husband in Chandina upazila.
The condemned convicts are Hosneara Begum, wife of killed Shahid Ullah, Md Shahjahan, Amir Hossain and Md Mostafa (fugitive), residents of Kasharikhola village under Maizkhar union in the upazila.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-5 Judge Zahangir Hossain handed down the verdict on Wednesday.
The court also awarded the victim's daughter Khadiza Begum life-term imprisonment.
The court's additional public prosecutor Zakir Hossain confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Statement of the case filed over the murder said police recovered the body of Shahid Ullah, an expatriate and son of Sayed Ali, a resident of Kasharikhola village, from a paddy field on November 21, 2009.
Later, his elder brother Arab Ali, 56, filed a case with Chandina Police Station against unknown people in this connection.
The case investigation officers Md Tareque and Abdul Hannan, sub-inspectors of Chandina Police Station, found the involvement of his wife and daughter in the murder.
Later, police detained them and they, in interrogation, admitted to the murder and gave a confessional statement in court.
As per their confession, the investigation officers pressed charges against Hosneara, Khadiza, Shahjahan, Amir and Mostafa in court.
