PM to address press conference this afternoon

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address a press conference on Tuesday afternoon to apprise the media of the outcome of her recent visit to South Africa.

“The press conference will be held at her official Ganabhaban residence at 4pm on Tuesday,” Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said on Monday.

On Sunday last, Prime Minister returned home after attending the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg of South Africa. She reached there on August 22 night.

South Africa hosted the historic summit of the BRICS nations -- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

It was the first BRICS Summit hosted in person since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent global restrictions.

President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the summit.
