Three cops killed as train hits pickup van

Three people constables were killed and three others injured as a train hit a pickup van carrying cops in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Mizan, Iskander and Hossain, who worked at Sitakunda Police Station.

Locals said a Chattogram-bound train of 'Sonar Bangla Express' from Dhaka hit a pickup van carrying police members when it was crossing Salimpur-Fakirhat Rail Crossing around 12.15 pm, leaving the casualties.

Sitakunda Police Station officer in-charge Tofayel Ahmed said the accident left one constable dead on the spot and five others injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared two more dead, he added.
