Abduction of NBR officer: Key accused among 3 arrested
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested three people, including the key accused Masud, in a case filed over abduction and torture of a female officer of National Board of Revenue (NBR).
A team of RAB arrested them from Sreepur in Gazipur and Sabujbagh in Dhaka on Friday night.
ANM Imran Khan, Assistant Director of RAB headquarters’ legal and media wing, confirmed the information on Saturday.
The abduction incident took place on the night of August 17 in front of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College. The victim, Joint Commissioner of Tax Zone-2 in Dhaka, managed to escape the following day, 18 hours after the abduction.
Later, she filed an abduction case against four people with Ramna Police Station in Dhaka. The main accused, Masud, former car driver of the NBR officer, was sacked on August 1.
The NBR officer is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in the capital. She suffered major injuries as one of her legs was broken and an eye was critically damaged due to torture.
