Dengue deaths in Bangladesh cross 500

Thirteen more people died of dengue in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths in Bangladesh to 506 to date this year.

In the past day, 2,070 were hospitalized with the mosquito-borne disease, a Directorate General of Health Services press release said on Wednesday.

Currently, 7,825 people diagnosed with dengue are taking treatment at different government and private hospitals in and outside the capital of Dhaka.

Of them, 3,580 are being treated at the facilities in the capital while 4,245 are in other divisions.

As many as 1,06,429 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country since January 1 this year.

Some 98,098 out of the hospitalized patients, however, recovered during the period.
