11 get life for UP member murder in Lakshmipur

A court in Lakshmipur has sentenced 11 people to life-term imprisonment for the murder of a union parishad member in Sadar upazila.
The lifers are Jamal Hossain, Jashim Uddin, Md Shahjahan, Faisal Khan Joy, Milon alias (CNG Milon), Al Amin, Barkat, Nishan, Rubel, Alauddin Sumon alias Chuilla Sumon and Lokman.
District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Md Rahibul Islam handed down the verdict on Tuesday, District Judge Court's public prosecutor Jashim Uddin confirmed.
The court also acquitted 11 others from charges of the case as they were found not guilty.
According to the case statement, Khorshed Alam Miron, a member 6 No. ward under Dattapara union parishad and former president of the UP Swechchhasebok League, was shot dead by the accused on September 28 of 2019.
Later, his wife Tahmina filed a case with Chandraganj Police Station in this connection.
