3 to die for killing 2 in Faridpur
A Dhaka court has sentenced three people to death and two others to life-term imprisonment for killing a man and his nephew in Faridpur.
Judge Jesmin Ara of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 passed the order on Sunday.
The court also acquitted six people and sentenced four others to different jail terms.
The death-row convicts are Hanif alias Hridoy, Kaiyum Miah and Enamul Hasan Miah.
The convicts who got life-term imprisonment are Awal Molla and Rezaul Matubbor.
The acquitted people are Pervez Miah, Hafizur Rahman alias Tushar Miah, Tuhin Miah, Robiul Islam alias Moshiur Miah, M Raju Ahmed alias Korban Miah and Shahidul Islam Shaheed Miah.
On August 10, 2019, one Rawshan Ali, his nephew Mirazul Islam Tuhin and some other people were attacked by Awal, Hanif and their cohorts at Modyakaichal Madrasa ground in Nagarkanda upazila of the district. They also opened fire on them leaving two of them dead on the spot.
A case was filed with Nagarkanda Police Station over the incident.
On July 22, 2022, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted a charge sheet after the investigation.
The case was first transferred to Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 and then to Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 for its speedy disposal.
