Ex-DU student 'commits suicide'

A former female student of Dhaka University has reportedly committed suicide by taking pesticide at Azimpur in Dhaka.

Deceased Ritu Karmaker, 27, was the daughter of Nilen Karmaker, a resident of Arani village under Bagha Police Station in Rajshahi and lived in a house at Azimpur.

Ritu's fellow Urmi said she took pesticide and fell sick around 9:30 pm on Friday. Later, she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the died on Saturday afternoon.

But Urmi could not say anything about why Ritu took the pesticide.

Confirming the matter, DMCH Police Camp in-charge inspector Md Bachchu Mia said the body was kept at the facility morgue.
