Eight Narsingdi youths missing in Mediterranean boat capsize
Eight youths from Narsingdi have gone missing in a boat capsize in the Mediterranean Sea when they were going to Italy through Libya illegally.
The missing youths are Mokhlesur Rahman, 20, son of Rafikul Islam, Anwar Hossain, 25, son of late Hasen Ali, and Kamal Hossain, 34, residents of Kangalia village, Masud Rana, son of Hasan Uddin, of Bhaterchar village, Monir Hossain, 22, son of Harun Rashid, and Rabiul, 33, son of Motaleb Mia, of Dulalkandi village, Swadhin Mia, 20, son of late Ali, of Lakshmipur village, and Aman Mia, of Nilakkhia village in Belabo upazia.
The incident took place recently when they were going to Italy through brokers. The victims' families got the news on Friday night through some survivors and broker sources.
Jamal Mia, the younger brother of missing Kamal, told Jago News the victims wanted to go to Italy from Libya illegally through the Mediterranean Sea in exchange of Tk 10 to Tk 12 lakh.
They paid the money to Zakir Hossain, a resident of Dulalkandi village in Belabo upazila, and his associate Shahinur Begum, who both stay in Libya and left home around five to six months ago.
