14-year jail for hacking

The Cabinet has approved a draft of Cyber Security Act, 2023 with the provision of a maximum of 10 years’ imprisonment for hacking. 

The approval came from the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office on Monday.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Advocate Anisul Huq confirmed the information after the meeting. 

He said the Digital Security Act is being replaced by Cyber Security Act and some sections of the law are being amended.
