Light to moderate rain likely over country
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur in most places over the country.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and in many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country", said a met office forecast for next 24 hours.
Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Dhaka,Tangail, Faridpur, Kishoregonj, Manikgonj, Chuadanga and Kushtia and it may abate, the forecast begins 9 am on Wednesday.
Day temperature may fall by (2-3)o C and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
The Monsoon Depression over Northeast Bay and adjoining area intensified into a Monsoon Deep Depression over the same area. Then it moved northwestwards, crossed Bangladesh coast by 06 pm yesterday (01.08.2023). It moved further west-northwestwards weakened into a Depression and now lies over West Bengal-Bihar and adjoining area.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, center of the Depression to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.
One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.
Country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded by 38.2 degree celsius at Bogura and minimum temperature today was recorded by 24.0 degree celsius at Kutubdia.
Country's maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded by 107 millimeters (mm) Teknaf.
