Bus driver arrested over Jhalakathi road accident that killed 17

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested the bus driver accused in a case filed over the death of seventeen people in a road accident in Jhalakathi.

Mohon Khan was arrested from Ashulia in Dhaka on Tuesday night. 

RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moeen confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Earlier on July 22, 17 people were killed and 35 others injured when the bus lost control and fell into the roadside pond near Dhansiri union parishad in the Sadar upazila of Jhalakathi. 

On July 23, Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station Sub Inspector Shusankar Sarkar filed the case against the bus driver, conductor and helper.

Jhalakathi district administration formed a five-member committee to investigate the incident.
