EC decides to register 2 new political parties
The Election Commission (EC) has decided to register two new political parties - Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM) and Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP).
The decision was taken at a meeting with CEC Kazi Habibul Awal in the chair on Sunday.
EC Secretary Md Jahangir Alam confirmed the information after the meeting at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon.
The EC will issue a public notice in this regard on Monday. Any objections regarding these two parties can be filed until July 26 and the final registration would be granted following the settlement of any complaints.
Earlier on April 11, the EC primarily selected 12 political parties out of the 93 parties that had applied for registration.
The 12 parties are: AB Party (Amar Bangladesh Party), Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM), Bangladesh Humanist Party (BHP), Gono Odhikar Parishad, Nagorik Oikya, Bangladesh Sanatan Party (BSP), Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP), Bangladesh Labour Party, Bangladesh Minority Janata Party (BMJP), Bangladesh People’s Party (BPP), Democratic Party and Bangladesh Liberal Democratic Party (BLDP).
After the preliminary selection, the EC decided to verify the field-level information of 12 parties and found some inconsistencies in the information provided by 10 of them.
