By-polls to Netrokona-4 on Sept 2

The by-election to the Netrokona-4 constituency that fell vacant following the death of ruling Awami League (AL) lawmaker Rebecca Momin will be held on September 2.

Election Commission (EC) Secretary Md Jahangir Alam announced the schedule of the by-election at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon on Sunday.

As per the schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is July 24 while the date for scrutinising those is July 25 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is July 31.

This by-polls will be held with ballot papers, the EC said. 

Rebecca Momin died while undergoing treatment at Square Hospitals in the capital on July 11.

The EC has a constitutional obligation to complete the by-polls within 90 days after it fell vacant.
