Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said Airport-Farmgate portion of the four-lane 19.73 km Dhaka Elevated Expressway will be opened to traffic in September.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate it.

Quader said this after inspecting the construction work of the expressway at Kawla area adjacent to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday.

He said motorcycles and three-wheelers will not be allowed to run on the elevated expressway.

The much-anticipated four-lane 19.73 km Dhaka elevated expressway is being constructed under Public Private Partnership (PPP) method to ease vehicular movement in and around the capital.

The government has undertaken the elevated expressway project to connect the capital to the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway (Kutubkhali).
