Lightning strikes kill 4 in C'nawabganj
Four people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes in three upazilas of Chapainawabganj on Monday morning.
The incidents took place in Sadar, Gomastapur and Bholahat upazilas.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Rawshan said a man died after being hit by thunderbolts when he was working in a field in Jamtala area.
Deceased Omar Ali, 50, was a resident of Bholahat upazila, he added.
Another person died in lightning strikes when he was working in a field at Bararshia village under Islampur union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 35, a resident of the village.
Gomastapur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Md Abdul Hamid said thunderbolts struck a man at Prasadpur village in the upazila, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, the injured, Shariful Islam, 35, a resident of the village, was rushed to Gomastapur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
In Bholahat, a man passed away after being hit by thunderbolts when he was working in a field at Mushribhuja village.
Deceased Anwar Hossain, 60, was a resident of the village.
