Gazipur, Barishal, Khulna city mayors take oath

Jayeda Khatun, Abul Khayer Abdullah and Talukder Abdul Khaleque have taken oath as the new mayors of Gazipur, Barishal, and Khulna City Corporations respectively.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered their oath at Ganabhaban around 10 am on Monday.

Apart from this, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam administered the oath of ward councillors and women councillors of reserved wards of the three cities.

Local Government Division Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim moderated the oath-taking ceremony.

Earlier, independent candidate Jayeda Khatun won the Gazipur City Corporation elections on May 25 while Abul Khayer Abdullah and Talukder Abdul Khaleque respectively secured victory in Barishal and Khulna City Corporation polls held on June 12.
