Seven get death, 5 life in madrasa student murder

A court in Cumilla has sentenced seven people to death and five others to life-term imprisonment in the murder of a madrasa student.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-5 Judge Zahangir Hossain pronounced the verdict on Sunday afternoon.

The court also fined them Tk 30,000 each.

The condemned convicts are Jewel, Shuvo, Kajol, Shipon, Morshed, Alauddin and Ripon while the lifers are Badal, Iqbal, Zahirul Islam, Anwar and Shohel.

Assistant public prosecutor advocate Md Zakir Hossain said a madrasa named Rana Khan, 20, was killed in Uttaran Housing Society area of Satora Champak Nagar of Cumilla Shohortali on May 4 of 2016.

Later, his father Zahangir Khan filed a case with Kotwali Police Station in this connection.
