9 remanded in Nadeem murder case

A court has placed five people on a three-day remand and four others on a four-day remand in a case filed for murder of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem.

Jamalpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Tanveer Ahmed passed the order on Sunday. 

The accused are Md Golam Kibria Sumon, 43, Md Milon, 25, Md Tofazzol, 40, Ainal Haque, 55, Kofil Uddin, 55, Fajlu Miah, 35, Md Shahid, 40, Maqbul, 35 and Md Ohiuduzzaman, 30.

Journalist Nadeem, Jamalpur district correspondent of online news portal Banglanews24.com, died on Thursday, a day after he was injured in an attack by miscreants.

Locals and family sources said miscreants attacked Nadeem in Pathati area of Bakshiganj Bazar in the district on Wednesday night on his way home after professional duty.

Locals rushed him to Bakshiganj Upazila Health Complex and from there, he was admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital for better treatment.

Later, he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he passed away.

His wife Monira Begum earlier alleged that the men of Sadhurpara UP chairman Babu carried out the attack on him over publishing news.
