Lightning strikes kill 4 in Naogaon

Four people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Patnitala and Porsha upazilas of Naogaon on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Khademul Islam, 40, and Motahar Hossain, 32, residents of Fatehpur village, Masud Hossain, 25, son of Saifuddin of Chhoto Moharandi village in Patnitala upazila and Azizul Haque, 65, of Sohati village in Porsha upazila.

Patnitala Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Palash Chandra Debnath said three people died in separate places of the upazila this afternoon after being struck by thunderbolts when they were working on fields.

Porsha Police Station OC Zahurul Haque said lightning strikes hit a man in the upazila this afternoon when he took a cow to a field near home to feed it grass, leaving him dead on the spot.
