BCL expels UP chairman Babu's son over journo Nadeem murder
Jamalpur's Bakshiganj upazila unit Bangladesh Chhatra League joint convener Fahim Faisal Rifat has temporarily been expelled for his alleged involvement in journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem murder.
Expelled Rifat is the son of Mahmudul Alam Babu, chairman of Sadhurpara union parishad under Bakshiganj upazila, whom the law enforcers detained early Saturday in connection with the killing and Awami League suspended from the post of general secretary of the UP unit AL.
Jamalpur district unit BCL made the disclosure in a press release on Saturday afternoon. The district unit BCL president Khabirul Islam Khan also confirmed the expulsion.
Nadeem's wife Monira Begum, however, filed a case against 22 people, including Babu, with Bakshiganj Police Station today in this connection.

Journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem, Jamalpur district correspondent of online news portal Banglanews24.com, died on Thursday, a day after he was injured in an attack by miscreants.
Locals and family sources said miscreants attacked Nadeem in Pathati area of Bakshiganj Bazar in Jamalpur on Wednesday night on his way home after professional duty, leaving him injured.
Locals rushed him to Bakshiganj Upazila Health Complex and from there, he was admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital for better treatment.
Later, he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he passed away.
Nadeem's wife Monira alleged that the men of Sadhurpara union parishad chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu carried out the attack on him over publishing news and she demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the incident.
Refusing the allegation, UP chairman Babu said he has no enmity with Nadeem and no link to the attack.
Earlier on April 11, Nadeem came under attack over a news publication.
