Nadeem murder: UP chairman Babu detained
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained Mahmudul Alam Babu, the chairman of Sadhurpara union parishad at Bakshiganj upazila in Jamalpur and suspended Awami League (AL) leader, in connection with the murder of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem.
He was detained from the house of one Fakrul Islam at Chilahati Char Tistapara in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh early Saturday.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moeen, said RAB-14 and its headquarters’ detective branch detained him. Next legal step is underway in this regard.
Panchagarh Police Superintendent SM Sirajul Huda also confirmed the detention to Jago News.

However, Chilahati union parishad 3 no. ward member Lutfor Rahman said the elite force members detained Babu from his sister’s house early in the morning.
Earlier on Friday night, Babu was temporarily suspended from the post of General Secretary of Sadhurpara union AL over his alleged involvement in the journalist murder.
Journalist Nadeem, Jamalpur district correspondent of online news portal Banglanews24.com, died on Thursday, a day after he was injured in an attack by miscreants.
Locals and family sources said miscreants attacked Nadeem in Pathati area of Bakshiganj Bazar in the district on Wednesday night on his way home after professional duty.
His wife Monira Begum alleged that the men of Sadhurpara UP chairman Babu carried out the attack on him over publishing news.
