3 killed as bus hits auto-rickshaw in Habiganj

Three people were killed and ten others injured when a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Habiganj on Sunday morning. 

The accident took place on Habiganj-Shayestaganj bypass road at Sudiakhola area in Shayestaganj upazila around 6am.

The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Rafiq Miah, 35, son of Abdul Haque of Ubahata village in Chunarughat upazila, Zeaul Haque, 36, son of Azir Hossen of Roghu Chowdhury Para in Baniachong upazila and Musa Miah, 64, son of Abdul Barik of Kakailosew in Ajmiriganj upazila.

The injured were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital.

Police and locals said a bus of Modern Paribahan hit the auto-rickshaw in the area, leaving three people dead on the spot and ten others injured. Later, members of police and fire service rushed to the spot and recovered them.

Mohammad Nazmul Haque, Officer-in-charge of Shayestaganj Police Station, said bodies of the deceased were sent to the hospital for autopsy.
